We are often asked by Brides what are the best products to use on the day of their wedding to make sure their hair is in perfect condition.
Truth be told, this should be an on going process months before the wedding, not just a quick fix on the day! So here come our top tips for beautiful wedding hair...
1. Book in for regular trims
One year prior to the wedding, make sure you book yourself in for regular trims every 6 - 8 weeks either with our dedicated hair stylist Nikki, or your own preferred hairdresser. Contrary to popular belief, regular trims don't actually 'make your hair grow faster' however it stops split ends and other damage from travelling up the hair shafts. The better condition the ends of your hair are, the better the overall condition!
2. Don't wash your hair every day
Our poor hair really does go through the mill on a daily basis. A professional shampoo and conditioner is a great way to give your hair the extra nourishment it needs on a regular basis - we recommend washing hair every two or three days. The problem with washing your hair every single day, means you are just washing away all the natural oils the scalp produces, which actually does it a lot of good!
L'Oréal Professionnel has a fantastic range of beautiful smelling products available at very good prices. If you've got coloured hair, try L'Oréal Professionnel Vitamino Colour.
3. Use styling products!
Whether its daily pollution, over straightening or using a hot hairdryer, its always best to protect your hair with a good spray or serum. Nikki recommends Kerastase Cement Thermique (for damaged hair) or Kerastase Nectar Thermique (for dry hair). If you are unsure which products would best suit you, give us a call for a complimentary hair analysis.
4. Colour your hair? Go ammonia free.
In this day and age, there really is little need for the use of harsh colouring chemicals do get your desired shade. Make sure you find a salon which can offer you:
Tint / Low lights - L'Oréal Inoa is the one for you. It's oil based and ammonia free so is easy going on your hair whilst smelling lovely!
Glossing - L'Oréal Diarichesse or Dialight. This colour offers rich, deep colour reflects, leaving the hair exceptionally soft and shiny.
5. Avoid unnecessary tension on hair
Sometimes all we want to do is sit down, tie back our hair and relax, or for the more energetic ones, scrape that hair back out of our face and go for a hard core gym session. But pulling hair back to tight can really do some damage! Try to loosen that pony or bun, to relieve tension on the hairline. Also make sure the hair tie used doesn't have any metal the hair could get caught in.
